Marxist Socialist Utopia

I was all excited by the news that we were about to have a Marxist or socialist or Marxist socialist utopia. (I’ve seen this announcement daily, in lots of blogs, for weeks now.)

So far, out here in the provinces (southern Indiana), not much seems to have changed. Private property has not been abolished. We still seem to be working with a capitalist mode of production. Everyone I know is still having to pay for food, clothes, and shelter with money they have had to earn by selling their labor-power, on terms that decidedly favor the buyers of that labor-power.

But maybe the socialist utopia will take a little longer to reach our area. We had to wait quite a long time for a Cracker Barrel, too.

  1. Just passing through and wanted to say Hi! We’ve not seen it in Chicago either, but I’ll let you know when it’s on the way. Have a good one!
